PASS /FAIL OPTION

Pass/Fail Option:

The process for students electing to take one or two classes Pass/Fail a semester is now an online approval process in Banner.

  • Fall 2024 requests must be received by November 22, 2024

There is a student guide that walks the student through the process of requesting to take a class pass/fail.

There is an advisor guide to walk the advisor through approving or denying a students request to take a class pass/fail.

Students may elect to take two classes pass/fail per semester. Student must be matriculated.

Students are not allowed to take a class pass/fail that is required in their major or minor.

Students may not repeat a class pass/fail in which they originally received a normal letter grade.

Students are not allowed to take CWP101 or CWP102 Pass/Fail.

To retract a prior pass/fail request that has already approved online by your advisor for the current term in process ... you need to email the details to audit@buffalostate.edu from your Buffalo State Email. The deadline to retract for Fall is: December 12th, 2024

The ability to retract is only if in the current term and before the posted date. Otherwise if its from a prior term you will need to file a petition with Academic Standards to request a letter grade substitution.
